Wow. Day one has been an absolute success. We converged on Omaha without incident, avoiding the flight delays that seem to inevitably plague the Chicago airports in winter and summer (also: autumn and spring). Picked up the rental car, and headed off to Springfield, Nebraska.
Our first official stop was everything we could have hoped for. We stopped at the public library, on Main St, to unfurl our banner before hopping back in the car to do a bit of exploring. A minute or two later, back on the road for real.
We’re spending the night in Sioux City, Iowa, before heading up to Springfield, S.D. in the morning. Hoping to hit at least one exciting attraction tomorrow (the Corn Palace is relatively nearby in Mitchell) before arriving in Sioux Falls in the afternoon.
